MICROPLASTICS INSIDE HUMANS FOUND BY RESEARCHERS – POSING HEALTH RISKS
Researchers from the Medical University of Vienna and Environment Agency Austria found nine types of microplastics inside humans from around the world. Anders Jacobson, president of Swedish water purification technology firm Bluewater, said he had “grave concerns” about the impact on human health following the study.

According to Anders Jacobson, co-founder of Bluewater, “By 2050, world demand for drinking water will have increased by 50% and aquifers will have decreased by 40%.” That’s why he left a career in investment banking to work with “water-stressed” communities from Cape Town to Shanghai last year.
CAPE TOWN MARATHON CLEAN-UP A WINNER
Cape Town’s environment proved one of the biggest winners at the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon at the weekend, with the use of single-use plastics significantly reduced and no municipal water used. Water dispensed from Bluewater Africa’s mobile water stations saved the use of plastics equivalent to that of 13 000 water sachets or 2600 standard water bottles.
